The Bass Angler/Die Baarshengelaar is a specialist bass fishing magazine published every month and distributed country-wide by RNA to tackle stores, supermarkets and bookstores. It emulates high quality American bass fishing magazines in style and layout, but provides a South African take on competitive and recreational bass fishing. The Bass Angler covers all aspects of bass angling in South Africa – from the beginner weekend warrior to the competent social boat and bank anglers, right through to the top echelons of the competitive scene with the fullest support of the South African Bass Angling Association and semi-professional bass angling tournament trails such as the Yamaha Skeeter KZN Bass Trail, Lowveld Bass Trail, KBT and The Bass Challenge.

The Editor in Chief is award-winning angling journalist Eugene Kruger who applies a wealth of journalism experience to produce a bass fishing publication of international standard. He is also a member of the International Committee of the International Game Fish Association. Working with a highly enthusiastic and experienced team of in-house and freelance journalists, photographers and illustrators, he has lifted bass fishing media to another level with this venture, combining print media with the latest electronic publishing wizardry.

The sub-editor is the recognised bass fishing tackle and electronic media authority Duncan Murfin who has established himself as a leading authority on bass fishing product knowledge as well as in print and electronic media.

This editorial powerhouse enjoys the unqualified logistical support provided by the print and publishing expertise of the highly experienced company, Annecat Print & Publishers based in Kempton Park led by the husband and wife team of Werner and Annetjie Lubbe, both experienced international standard competitive anglers. As members of the national Protea teams they have more than ten World Championship appearances each. Since April 2003 Annecat has established the specialist freshwater bank angling publication, The Bank Angler/Die Oewerhengelaar as an industry winner with Eugene as its editor. It grew from a quarterly publication to a nationwide monthly magazine with a monthly print order exceeding 20 000 copies and is now an accredited member of the Audit Bureau of Circulation.
